Pete Kennedy has been Cycling Officer at Pedal Power for over 5 years, joining the organisation in 2018, having volunteered for the service before that.

Last week Pete officially retired as our Cycling Officer, although we know we will continue to see him at Pedal Power in the future.

Having worked at Shotton Paper for most of his working life, Pete’s love in life was riding his bikes around the North Wales countryside. His passion for cycling and his passion for helping people came together when he joined Pedal Power.

Karen Balmer, Trustee at Cycling 4 All, commented,

“Pete has made a fantastic contribution to Pedal Power, we will miss his expertise, patience, and enthusiasm. We wish him all the best in his retirement”.

It became very clear how greatly appreciated he was. The volunteers have all told us how much they will miss Pete in many ways; for his knowledge of all-ability cycling, for the time he spent supporting the volunteers and for his patience and kindness in supporting the customers who come to Pedal Power.

There have been lovely messages of good luck and appreciation thanking Pete for making them feel so welcome and for his amazing support.

Known to all as ‘Pedal Power Pete’, it’s a nick name he will always keep, and we are sure we will see him at Pedal Power again very soon.
